Raffle Prize - Magic the Gathering Fat Pack

We're having a raffle and the prize is shown to the left -the MTG Innistrad Fat Pack. It contains nine 15-card booster packs, a pack of 70 Innistrad basic land, ten Innistrad checklist cards for use with double-faced cards, a sleeve that can be unfolded to reveal a montage of Innistrad art, a card box with panoramic art of Liliana, two deck boxes, The Innistrad Player's Guide which contains play tips, story background, and a visual encyclopedia of every card in the set, a learn-to-play insert, and an Innistrad Spindown Life Counter.

The RRP in the UK is £33.99. All you have to do to enter the raffle is to buy a MTG booster at £3.49 (either Innistrad or Core 2012). Every booster you buy increases your chances of winning. The draw will take place at 4pm on Wednesday 21 December, so someone will have quite a nice Christmas present.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Bargain of the week £7.99

We've had lots of Yu-Gi-Oh players in the past two weeks and have had several duels in the shop. The latest bargain of the week is the "Lost Sanctuary Structure Deck". It's a 40-card deck with a theme around the planets in the solar system. Thirty-seven commons, one ultra rare and two super rares are included along with a rulebook, deluxe game mat, and a dueling guide. It's one of my best bargains yet at £7.99.

Bargain of the week

Last week's 'Bargain of the week' was Countdown, a boardgame version of the TV show. RRP of £19.99, my 60% discount to £7.99 went down well with everyone except Tesco (still selling it for £18.97), Argos ('currently unavailable') and the respected online seller Amazon (not bad at £16.14).

Well here's another bargain for this week; Articulate Your Life. Articulate Your Life is a frantic family word game. The RRP is £34.99. WH Smith manages to ask for more than the RRP (which is cheeky!), Tesco are good at £29.97, but I'm so so better! £19.99. Yep, for one week only. I have four available.

Come into the shop. Games Maison, 62A Ramsgate Road, Margate CT9 5RY. Open midday to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Super Nanny recommended games

Super Nanny Jo Frost recommends just fifteen games for the youngsters but five of them come from the specialist games company Orchard Toys, so they must be doing something right. They're famous game is Shopping List, but it's their Insey Winsey Spider, Red Dog Blue Dog, Scaredy Cat, Pop it in the Post, and Old MacDonald Lotto that Super Nanny recommends. Orchard's games are colourful, environmentally friendly, made in the UK and are not only fun to play but are educational too. Definitely good for the little ones. The image to the right shows my favourite Orchard game, One Banana Two Banana.

Dr Who in Margate

The legend David Tennant is in Margate as we speak. Rumours are that he's filming a show and a certain episode is set by the sea where he takes a mistress to a hotel. Something like that! If you'd like to see David at Games Maison then that's great because he's on the front of the latest Dr Who Scene It, and on Top Trumps and he's on the Dr Who Adventures in Time and Space RPG. All in stock. Take David Tennant home with you today.

We also have 300 Dr Who books for those who'd prefer the earlier Doctors.

Thanet Games (Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs)

A number of people have come into the shop and mentioned that they have games nights and games clubs. I know of Risk nights, quite a few RPG nights, MTG get togethers and plenty of 40k'ers. I know a team who are happy to demonstrate, play or organise almost any game. I've heard from a big fan of Mansions of Madness and a few D&D'ers.

If you run a games night in the area let me know and I'll come along and maybe bring a few other people.
